Graham Hill was a double F1 champion taking the title for BRM in 1962 and again for Lotus in 1968. Hill was a master of Monaco and won the GP there a then record 5 times. In 1968 he pulled the Lotus team through a very difficult time following on from the death of his team mate Jim Clark and drove magnificently to take the title from Jackie Stewart in the final race at Mexico. Hill subsequently survived a bad crash in his Lotus, breaking both legs and was never as competitive on his return. He retired during the 1975 season after founding his own team Embassy Hill racing. Hill is the only driver to have won the F1 world championship, the Indianapolis 500, and the Le Mans 24 hour race. Tragically he was killed in late 1975 along with other members of his team, whilst trying to land his light aircraft at Elstree airport in England as they returned from a test session in France.
